How to fix Windows 10 Slow Boot? Reboot Fastest.

Make your Windows 10 reboot faster with this all in one guide.

Are you tired of Windows 10 slow startup? Do you think your PC takes too much time for booting? If this is the case, Today I will tell you some tricks to fix Windows 10 slow boot

problem. Make your Windows Reboot faster than before. You don’t need to
download any software. You can remove this issue by following the easy tricks listed below.

When you are in Windows, on the desktop:

  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
  2. Click Task Manager
  3. Click the “Performance” tab
  4. Have a look at the CPU and Memory % used values
  5. What is the percentage for CPU and Memory ?

If these values are fairly normal, ie less than 50%, then these are unlikely to be the problem. If the usage is very high for both, ie 80% or higher, then it is likely you need more RAM or a SSD instead of your current hard drive. 2GB of RAM will work ok, but only for light office use. Be sure to install Windows 10 32bit, not 64bit, if you have 3GB of RAM or less, as it will increase the performance.

How to fix the Windows 10 slow boot up.

In general Windows 10 is lighter and faster than Windows 7. Faster booting, and faster response in normal usage as well. Microsoft offered the free upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or 8.1. But this upgrade came up with a bug that affected Windows users massively. I am talking about Windows 10 slow boot bug! Precisely, this bug is notorious for lengthened boot times. Its symptoms include black screen after loading animation and PC manufacturer’s logo. The user can move the cursor but inability to perform any activity. This process can take more than a minute! At first, a voluminous size of Windows was considered as the culprit. But malware and un-optimized startup settings are the root causes! In this guide, we have explained a few tips to speed up Windows 10 boot time.

Use Fast Startup to fix Windows 10 Slow Boot

The most common reason for slow boot is Fast Startup feature. We just need to disable the feature to fix this sluggishness.

  1. Open the Start Menu and type “Power Options”.
  2. Select the Power Options when it appears.
  3. On Power Options panel, select the option “Choose what the power button does”. It is located on the left side of the Window.
  4. Next, you will see a small blue and yellow shield icon.
  5. Now click on the text “Change settings that are currently unavailable”. Your PC may ask administrator’s password to proceed. Now scroll down to Shut-down settings.
  6. Un-tick the option “Turn on fast startup”.
  7. Click Save Changes! That’s it!
  8. Next time you switch on the PC, you will experience the huge cut in boot time!

Keep your Desktop Clean Don’t add so many shortcuts on your Windows 10. These shortcuts create a huge problem in Windows 10 boot. This is also a major reason of Windows 10 slow boot. I would recommend you to keep 5-10 shortcuts only on your Desktop

Disable Windows 10 Graphics Drivers to Fix Windows 10 Slow Boot Nvidia and AMD

Graphics drivers might be the problem if Fast Startup feature tip did not work. The switching between Intel HD Graphics and dedicated card from Nvidia or AMD can provoke slow boot. You just need to disable the dedicated card driver and restart your computer.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Right-click on the Start Menu.
  2. Select Device Manager from the list.
  3. Click on Display Adapters.
  4. Next step is the identification of dedicated graphics card. It can be Nvidia, AMD or ATi.
  5. Now simply, right-click on it and select “Disable”.
  6. Your screen may go to blank for instance.

Shut down your PC and turn it on. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue!

Uninstall Windows 10 Technical preview Dual Boot

Uninstall all the Softwares which are not required. Remove all toolbars installed on your browser. Don’t use any kind of toolbar in the browser. Don’t allow software to start when computer boot. Software like Utorrent starts with the window.
Visit Control Panel.
Click on Programs and features/ or Add or Remove.
Now, select the software and uninstall from your PC.

Disable unnecessary startup programs-

The Task Manager has evolved into a powerful and coherent interface. You can easily choose exactly what processes you allow to run, and it’s a more sophisticated general troubleshooting tool than ever before, greatly improved over 7. Most of the improvements appeared in 8, but it’s even slicker in 10.

  1. RIGHT-click on the start button, then hit Task Manager.
  2. Then hit the “Startup” tab.

Task Manager Startup

Mine will look quite different than yours, of course. But the obvious thing to do is look at processes where “Startup Impact” says “High”. If you can do without it, right click on it & disable it. If you don’t know what it is, right click on it, choose “Search Online”, and do some reading.
Many programs (and designers) have a bad habit of wanting to run their own little TSR at boot. But 99% of the time it's just not necessary; the program will work peachy fine without it. Things that absolutely do need to run at boot are few. Windows processes, antivirus... on laptops generally the trackpad stuff is needed... sometimes audio interface stuff needs to run... and that's about it. Cloud backup programs such as Google Drive, Dropbox etc... sure it's nice if they run at boot and keep your files synced. But if you run them manually now and then that's usually good enough.

Driver problem-

RIGHT-click on the start button again, and this time choose “Device Manager”.
Another thing that can cause slow booting is a driver problem. Those can be harder to find.
RIGHT-click on the start button again, and this time choose “Device Manager”.

Windows 10 Device Manager

First thing, look for any yellow exclamation points. If you see one, you have hardware that Windows needs a driver for. If you don’t see any !’s, you are typically ok - but not always.
If your machine was built by an OEM manufacturer like Dell or HP or Asus or Acer… Go find the driver page on their website for your model. Find the Windows 10 drivers for your motherboard processor (aka chipset), GPU, networking, audio, etc. If Windows 10 drivers are not yet available, Windows 8 drivers will often be a good bet.

Last possibility I can think of right now… If your machine has an older spinning HD, and has not yet had a chance to defrag the HD since the install, that can cause slow boots as well. Might run a manual defrag - just to be sure.

Memory Cleanup-

Also, after installing Windows 10, most people do not realize that all the installation files, and the previous version of Windows will still be on their hard drive, so if you are not planning on going back to your previous Windows, do the following steps:

  1. Click in the Search Windows bar
  2. Type disk cleanup
  3. Click OK
  4. Wait for the main window to appear
  5. Click Clean up system files
  6. Click OK again
  7. Wait again
  8. When the main menu appears again, tick all the boxes, then scroll down and tick all the remaining boxes.
  9. Click OK
  10. When a confirmation message appears about deleting the previously installed version of Windows, click OK or Yes.
  11. At the end of this process, you will end up with between 20 and 39GB of extra space on your hard drive, which will speed up your Windows 10 drive.
  12. Lastly, if you have a normal hard drive, not an SSD, once this process is complete, I would recommend you defrag your hard drive.
  13. To do this, click in the search bar, and type in defragment
  14. Click the Desktop app called Defragment and Optimize Drives
  15. lick Optimize

If your computer is still slow after running this, you may want to use the tool CCleaner, to do a “registry cleanup”, and “fix errors”.

Repair Windows 10 Boot If none of the above tips worked, you have a choice to make. You can either reset the Windows 10 or downgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1. In the case of the reset, you have to lose all files and programs installed on your PC. Make sure to backup all the data files before going for reset option.

Reset option has one drawback! After reset, you will lose the possibility of the downgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1. To avoid this situation, prepare Windows 7 or 8.1 system image or restore partition. Otherwise, you will end up being stuck with version 10!
